How to make giant lego brick props





















step one:






go to your local newsagent and ask them for any old crisp packet boxes, people are always happy to give away there rubbish, and it's always better to reuse than recycle!






step two:






Cut out one of the large sides.






step three:






Masking tape the side of the box to give extra rigidity






step four:






Cut out a cardboard circle that can fit in to your box an even number of times.






step five:






mark out those circles on the top face.






step six:






Cut out those circles,best to use a stanley knife as you will be using these pieces as the nobbles on the top of the lego bricks.






Step seven:






Cut strips of card as wide as the circles are and long enought to wrap around the circles.






step eight:






stick a strip of masking tape to one of the long sides of the card strips.






step nine:






stick the masking taped card strip to the circle, so that you end up with a cylinder. repeat with all the circles.






step ten:






use strip of masking tape on the insde of the cylinder attaching to the inside of box.you should now have what looks like a carboard lego brick.






step eleven:






now's the time to paper mashee. First mix some PVA glue and water (1 part water to 10 parts PVA).






Step twelve:






rip an old newspaper into 3cm strips






step thirteen:






dip your strip of newspaper into your glue mix and scrap of excess glue between two finger so you are left with a glue covered strip.






step fourteen:






smooth the strip of gluey newspaper on to the box making sure to smooth out all the paper, repeat this all of the box overlaying each strip by a few millimeters.


step fifteen:

leave your brick to dry overnight.


Step sixteen:

paint in a bright colour inside and out


step seventeen:

varinish using a water based interior varnish.


and voila! your brick is done!
